The Bobcats Upset the Golden Tigers
Gainesville, GA - The Golden Tigers lost a very close battle against NCAA II Georgia College and State University this afternoon at the Smithgall Tennis Center.
Both teams split matches in singles, with Brenau winning at No. 1, 3 and 4 spots, and the Bobcats taking No. 2, 5 and 6. Doubles proved to be the deciding factor, as the Bobcats took doubles No. 2 and 3, to gain the edge and clinch the victory 5-4.
Junior players Hannah Thompson and Lyn See Choo lead the Golden Tigers throughout the day, as they won both their singles and doubles to give Brenau 3 points in the overall score. Playing No. 1 doubles, Choo/Thompson defeated Barksdale/Lion 8-6. Lyn See Choo defeated the No. 1 singles player from GCSU Bertille Lion 6-3, 6-1, while Hannah Thompson claimed the victory at No. 3 singles against Kay Barksdale 4-6, 6-3, 10-5. The other Brenau point came at No. 4 singles, as senior Liubov Orlova defeated Kim Lochner from Georgia College and State University 6-1, 6-1.
Brenau, ranked #8 in the NAIA, plays at home tomorrow, Friday April 8th, against #12 Clayton State University (NCAA II). The match is scheduled for 2 pm.
