Swimming Places Second at 2024 AAC Championships
Kingsport, Tennessee- The Brenau swim team placed second at the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.
The Golden Tigers amassed 465 team points to outpace third-place Union (Ky.)
Freshman Olga Bukowska continued her strong inaugural championships with a second place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:38.24.
Fellow freshman Hannah Tomlinson garnered AAC-All Conference honors with a third place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:14.00)
The 400 freestyle relay team of Sofia Bellocchio, Hannah Tomlinson, Olga Bukowska and Emma Verkuyl also earned third place in a time of 3:41.94.
Other Golden Tigers finishers on the final day of competition include:
Sofia Bellocchio: sixth place, 100 freestyle, 56.30;
Callie Edens: fifth place, 200 butterfly, 2:38.70; eighth place, 200 backstroke, 2:28.11;
Bailey Hodges: sixth place, 200 backstroke, 2:22.30;
Hannah Miltiades: eighth place, 200 breaststroke, 3:13.68;
Emma Verkyul: fourth place, 100 freestyle, 54.42;
Melanie Wicht: ninth place, 100 freestyle, 59.16;
Additionally, Tessa Ip Hen Cheung, Callie Edens, Hannah Miltiades and Olga Bukowska also receive AAC All-Academic honors for their academic performance. Recipients must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average and have achieved at least sophomore academic status. Additionally, Bukowska was selected as a 2024 AAC Champions of Character recipient. Honorees must best represent the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
