Five Swimmers Named 2020-21 NAIA All-Americans
Kansas City, Missouri- Five Brenau swim team members were named as 2020-21 Women's Swimming and Diving All-Americans by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the national office announced on Thursday.
Seniors Nikoletta Alvanou and Meghan Mistric, juniors Haley Bartoletta and Bayley Blackmon and freshman Melanie Wicht all received All-American status.
This is the second All-American recognition for Alvanou, Bartoletta and Blackmon, who each received the accolades in 2020, while Mistric and Wicht are first-time recipients of the prestigious honors.
"A big congratulations to Nikoletta, Haley, Bayley, Meghan, Melanie, and all of the student-athletes that have been named All-Americans," said head swim coach Nate Rhoads. "The swimming community persevered this year, through all of the difficulties and setbacks caused by Covid-19, and found innovative ways to train, compete, and prepare to be the best they could be. I'm proud of all of the athletes, coaches, and institutions that made this year's season happen!"
Due to the cancellation of the 2021 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships, the All-Americans were selected because they received an automatic or provisional cut.
