Swimming Swims Past Columbia

The Brenau swim team won their second consecutive meet with a 141-50 defeat of Columbia (SC) College on Saturday in Columbia.

In the opening event, the 400 medley relay team of Lindsay Dowling, Alisha Hodgetts, Sarah Frey and Chloe Ireland defeated the Columbia relay team by over four seconds to cruise to victory.

The nationally ranked Golden Tigers then reeled off first place finishes in 8 of the next 10 events, including three individual wins from Yanne Toussaint (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) to overwhelm the host Koalas.

Madison Kosater, third place, 50 freestyle, 26:51; third place, 100 backstroke, 1:06.28;

Margaret Norton, second place, 200 freestyle, 2:10.85; third place, 500 freestyle, 5:54.28;

Anna Rose, second place, 100 butterfly, 1:06.13;

Yanne Toussaint, first place, 50 freestyle, 25:94; first place, 100 freestyle, 55:89; first place, 100 breaststroke, 1:11.61;

In the last event of the day, the relay team of Rose, Hayward, Kosater and Kleinschmidt capture first place (1:46.68) in the 200 free relay, while the team of Ireland, Norton, Horan and Dowling won second place(1:48.31) to close out the meet.

Brenau next hosts Emmanuel (Ga.) College and South Georgia State College on January 27-28 in Gainesville.
