Swimming Wins on Senior Day
On senior night, the #2 ranked Brenau swim team defeated visiting Converse (S.C) College 105-90 on Friday in Gainesville.
Brenau overwhelmed the Valkyries, capturing a number of individual wins and getting a strong showing from their two seniors. Individual Golden Tigers winners include Maggie Norton in the 1000 freestyle, Ella Kleinschmidt in the 100 and 200 freestyle, Madison Kosater in the 50 freestyle, Courtney Hayward in the 400 individual medley and 500 freestyle, Alisha Hodgetts in the 100 butterfly and Lindsay Dowling in the 100 backstroke.
Additionally, Courtney Hayward earned a NAIA Nationals Bonus Cut in the 100 butterfly.
The Golden Tigers also honored seniors Mary Katherine Jabbia and Kathleen Rossi for their years of service to the team. Both seniors shined as Jabbia won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay, as well as earning a second place finish in the 50 freestyle and a third place finish in the 100 freestyle. Rossi, returning to the pool after injury,also had strong showings in both the 50 freestyle and the 200 freestyle relay.
"I'm so proud and grateful for our seniors. MK and Kathleen are both fantastic swimmers, but are far better people," said Coach Nate Rhoads. "As these women pursue their dreams in pharmacy and fashion after Brenau, I want them to know that they will always have a home here, and that their team will always have their back."
The Brenau Swim Team will be in action again on Saturday, January 30th as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA for a quad meet versus.host Emmanuel (Ga.) College, Columbia (S.C.), and Milligan (Tenn.) College.
