Swimming Has Strong Showing in First Meet
In the opening meet of the 2015 season, the Brenau swim team overwhelmed visiting Columbia (SC) College, Life (Ga.) University and Point (Ga.) University, winning 12 of 14 events en route to the first meet wins of the season.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Lindsay Dowling, M. K. Jabbia, Alisha Hodgetts and Ella Kleinschmidt cruised to a win in 1:51.87, while the 200 freestyle relay team of Ella Kleinschmidt, M.K. Jabbia, Kosater and Alisha Hodgetts also raced to a win in 1:43.60.
Jabbia added individual wins in the 50 yard breaststroke in 32.74 and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:10.00).
Lindsay Dowling also began her collegiate career with two wins as the Winston, Ga. freshman won the 100 yard backstroke (1:00.18) and 200 yard IM (2:18.03) in her first meet as a Golden Tiger.
Courtney Hayward also had a standout day as the 2014 All-American captured wins in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:57.31) and 100 yard freestyle (57.01).
Kleinschmidt and Hodgetts topped off meet for the Golden Tigers with two wins each. Kleinschmidt won the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.81) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:23.51), while Hodgetts captured first place in the 50 yard butterfly (26.81) and the 50 yard freestyle (25.33).
The meet marked the first wins for new head coach Nate Rhodes. Rhodes saw progress in his team in the first meet, saying, "This is an early season meet and the women swam well. They won races-it wasn't always pretty-but they got the job done."

Brenau next races at the Converse Invitational in hosted by Converse College in Spartanburg, SC on October 9th and 10th.
