Brenau Swimming Inks Two for Fall 2012
Brenau University Head Swim Coach Blaire Bachman proudly announces the commitment of two stellar student-athletes to the Golden Tigers Swim Team. Kathleen Rossi (Clearwater, FL) and Petra Hanrahan (Pinckney, MI) each signed athletic scholarships to attend Brenau University, and swim for the 8th ranked NAIA swimming program.
"Both young women are excellent swimmers and will add instant depth to our distance group. We were looking to recruit true distance swimmers, ones that enjoy putting in the high yardage practices and know what it takes to compete down to the last 25 yards. We see future excellence in both ladies and are excited to welcome both ladies as Golden Tigers!" ~Coach Blaire Bachman
A Florida native, Rossi will join the swim team with the fastest 500 and 1650 event times on the current roster, as well as add strength to the butterfly group. She was most recently Team Captain of her high school swim team in 2011-2012. A member of the year round Clearwater Aquatic Team, Kathleen was coached by Randy Reese. Kathleen attended Clearwater High School and developed an interest in fashion; she will pursue a degree in Fashion Design while attending Brenau.
Petra Hanrahan (Pinckney, MI) joins the Golden Tigers Swim Team having competed since the age of three and continuing to swim with the Pinckney Aquatic Club, while also a member of her high school and local USA teams. Highlights during her time in the pool include participating in the People to People Sports Ambassador Program in Amsterdam, Tri At The Tavern 5K open water competition and placing 8th in the KLAA Conference Championships in the 500 Freestyle. While at Brenau, she plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy and looks forward to achieving the NAIA National Championship qualifying times to represent the Golden Tigers in 2013.
