Florida Champ Commits to Brenau Swimming
GAINESVILLE, Ga - Mary Sinatra, from Tallahassee, Florida, has committed to the Brenau University swim team. While attending Chiles High School, Sinatra swims year round with her high school program (who were the 2011 Florida 2A Champions) and ATAC Swim Club.
Throughout her high school career, Mary has built a reputation for being a tremendously dedicated and disciplined athlete. She was named Chiles High School Freshman and Junior Swimmer of the Year. At the high school state championship, she placed 14th in the 100 backstroke and in the 100 fly. As a member of the 200 freestyle relay, Sinatra earned a silver medal, and went on to receive a gold medal, when she lead in the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay (28.45).
Community service work is also an important part of Mary's life. She takes time out of her schedule to ensure that she can volunteer for worthy causes. The local humane society is very near and dear to her heart, which is why she volunteers there every chance she can. Sinatra also participates in the annual Relay for Life, in the effort to fight cancer.
"Mary is our first recruit for 2012-2013 Golden Tiger Swim Team, she brings an accomplished competitive background and a desire to be a top level NAIA swimmer, "stated Coach Blaire Bachman. "Being one of Florida's top swimmers, I believe her enthusiasm to race and talent in the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly events will be exactly what our program needs, as we continue to grow in size and depth."
