Michelle Billeaud Signs With Brenau Swimming

Gainesville, GA - Michelle Billeaud signed a letter of intent with the Brenau University Swim Team, for the 2011-2012 season. Billeaud was homeschooled by her mother, and graduated in 2010. Although she did not compete with a school team, Billeaud found a way to be get involved within her local swim club. At an early age, Michelle became a competitive, year-round swimmer for the City of Lafayette (COLA) Swim Club. For the duration of her career, she was coached by the likes of Colleen Barczyk and Geoffrey Winkler.

In 2009, Billeaud had her first taste of glory, when she made her first appearance at sectionals; ever since, she has made it a point to demonstrate her skills in the water and return back to sectionals each season. Over the course of the next year, Billeaud set her sights higher, only to find herself at the Louisiana State SC Championships, in 2010. She placed 2nd in the 100 Breast (1:10.22) and 2nd in the 200 Breast (2:32.82). Furthermore, Billeaud finished 1st in the 50 Free (28.31) at the Louisiana State LC Championships. In 2011, she had the chance to reappear at the Louisana State SC Champions, placing 2nd in the 50 free (25.19), 2nd in 100 back (1:00.25), 2nd in 100 breast (1:10.78), and 2nd in 200 breast (2:33.82).

Michelle was ecstatic when she made the choice to commit to Brenau. Billeaud embraced this momentous event, since she was the first, in a family of nine children, to receive athletic scholarship to a university.

Blaire Bachman boasts on her newest recruit, stating "the Brenau Swim Team is proud to announce the signing of Michelle Billeaud to join our program for the fall of 2011. Michelle joins the Golden Tigers with an accomplished background on both the club and high school swimming levels, having placed top three at the Louisiana State Championships in the past two years. She has an extremely positive attitude, strong desire to work hard and I am certain that she will make a huge impact on this program, lending her sprinting talents to our roster."
