Soccer Shuts Down Point 2-0 in 2024 Home Opener

Gainesville, Ga.- The Brenau soccer team opened the 2024 home schedule with a 2-0 shutout of Point (Ga.) University at Allen Creek Soccer Complex on Thursday.

The Golden Tigers offense struck quickly as Josselly Baustisa scored an unassisted goal to give the home squad an early 1-0 lead. In the second half, sophomore Sarah Clark beat Skyhawk keeper Lisa Kelm for the insurance goal to secure the 2-0 victory.

The Brenau defense held tough throughout the match as Point (0-2 overall) only managed four shots on goal.  

Brenau goalie Zyara Gonzalez saved two shots to secure the win, while freshman Madison Kitson led the Golden Tigers with five shots.

Brenau (1-1 overall, 0-0 AAC) next hosts Union Commonwealth (Ky.) (2-0-1 overall, 0-0 AAC) in the AAC opener on Saturday September 7th at 3:00 pm in Gainesville.
