Reinhardt Slips Past Golden Tigers Soccer 2-0
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau soccer team lost a hard fought contest to Reinhardt (Ga.) University in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
The visiting Eagles (9-5-1 overall, 7-2-1 AAC) scored two first half goals to sink the Golden Tigers 2-0.
In the 18th minute, Reinhardt's Adrien Merrilles scored the first goal of the match for a 1-0 lead. The Golden Tigers had opportunities to tie in the half, including a shot off the goal post for freshman Cindy Bonilla in the 28th minute. However, the Eagles seized the momentum as Merrilles notched her second goal of the half to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, the Reinhardt defense held fast and allowed the Eagles to clinch a 2-0 victory.
Brenau keeper Daphne Ramirez saved six shots on goal, while Reinhardt's Caroline Johnson saved seven shots. The Eagles also held a slight 9-8 edge in shots on goal.
Brenau (4-8 overall, 4-5 AAC) next travels to Milligan (Tenn.) College (7-4-1 overall, 7-2-1 AAC) on Saturday for a 2 pm AAC conference matchup.
