Soccer Falls Short Against Johnson and Wales
Gainesville, Georgia- Visiting Johnson and Wales (Fla.) University scored two early goals to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Brenau soccer team in a non-conference matchup on Thursday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex.
Wildcat forward Savannah Jackson scored goals in each half as the visitors held off a late Golden Tiger goal to take the win.
Jackson, who has scored eleven total goals in three games this season, scored at the 16:36 and 48:02 marks to give her team a 2-0 lead. The home team answered in the 54th minute as sophomore midfielder Stacy Mendoza notched her first goal as a Golden Tiger to narrow the deficit to 2-1.
The Golden Tigers were unable to find the equalizer over the final 35 minutes to take the close loss.
Brenau keeper Daphne Ramirez notched five saves while Johnson and Wales keeper Denise Mendoza tallied six saves.
Brenau (0-2 overall) next hosts Bob Jones (S.C.) University on September 10th at 6 pm at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
