Reinhardt Edges Past Soccer in AAC Play
Waleska, Georgia- The Brenau soccer team fell to Reinhardt University 2-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
The host Eagles (10-5 overall, 8-2 AAC) opened the match with a goal in the first two minutes as Se Se Rutten beat Golden Tigers' keeper Anela Melton for an early 1-0 lead.
The lead remained 1-0 throughout the match until the 83rd minutes as Adrien Merrilles scored an insurance goal to clinch the Reinhardt victory.
Reinhardt outshot Brenau 18-6 in the match and both Melton and the Eagles' keeper Caroline Johnson saved five shots each.
Brenau (6-7-2 overall, 5-5-1 AAC) closes out the regular season next Saturday against Truett McConnell University (RV) (12-1 overall, 10-0 AAC) at 2:00 pm in Cleveland, Georgia.
