Point Sneaks By Brenau Soccer in Double Overtime

The Brenau soccer team battled Point University through two overtimes but came up just short in a 2-1 loss on Wednesday in Gainesville.

In the 20^th minute, the Golden Tigers pounced early as Elli Johnson found freshman Jade Echols for her first collegiate goal to take an early 1-0 lead.

The home squad kept the lead throughout the match until the 80th minute as the Skyhawks' Alexis Schock scored the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, the match stayed even until the 103^rd minute when Point's Sabria Marquez beat Brenau keeper Ashley Spring to help the visitors escape with the narrow victory.

Brenau keepers Anela Melton and Ashley Spring combined to save fourteen shots in the match.

Brenau (1-11-2 overall, 1-7-1 AAC) continued their Appalachian Conference slate on Senior Night against Reinhardt University (6-6-3 overall, 5-2-2 AAC) on October 25th in Gainesville.

The team will honor their three seniors-Sara Heard, Carly Hill and Shelly Restificar-after the match.
