Tennessee Wesleyan Edges Out Brenau 2-0
The Brenau soccer team lost to Tennessee Wesleyan College 2-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Athens, Tennessee.
Both teams battled throughout the first half until Tennessee Wesleyan's Livia Walker scored in the 44th minute to give her team a 1-0 lead right before intermission. The momentum carried over into the second half as the host Bulldogs' Jessica Young scored in the 49th minute to increase the lead 2-0.
The Golden Tigers were unable to mount a comeback as the team managed only three shots in the second half.
Brenau keepers Anela Melton and Ashley Spring combined for 14 saves in the loss.
Brenau (1-10-2 overall, 1-6-1 AAC) next hosts Point (Ga.) University (5-9 overall, 3-4 AAC) on Wednesday at 7pm at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
