Soccer Drops SSAC Match to #4 Martin Methodist

The Brenau soccer team lost to #4 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College 5-0 in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday in Pulaski, Tennessee.

The Golden Tigers found themselves in an early deficit as the RedHawks scored off of a corner kick in the sixth minute for a 1-0 lead. Martin Methodist followed with two more goals in the first half as Millene Cabral Vieira scored in both the 21st and 26th minutes for a 3-0 lead at the half.

After intermission, the Golden Tigers defense held tight until the 86th minute when Cabral Vieira scored again to make the score 4-0. The RedHawks added a fifth goal in the 88th minute to cap off the win.

Brenau was outshot 15-6 in the match, while keeper Ashley Spring saved four shots in the loss.

Brenau (6-8 overall, 2-4 SSAC) next hosts Auburn University-Montgomery (Ala.) on Monday at 5:00 pm eastern. The Golden Tigers will honor seniors Kaylee Ellison and Monica Sanchez in their last home matches for Senior Day.
