Soccer Slips Against Georgia Gwinnett
The Brenau soccer team scored first but faded late against Georgia Gwinnett College in a non-conference 2-1 loss in Lawrenceville on Monday.
After a scoreless first half, the Golden Tigers capitalized on their opportunities in the 54th minute as Maddie Corley found Tiffany Raygor for a 1-0 lead. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Grizzlies' Lina Blomqvist beat keeper Anela Melton three minutes later to even the match at 1-1.
Both teams continued to battle with neither team taking an advantage until the 84th minute when the Grizzlies scored the game winner.
For Raygor, the goal marked her team-leading seventh goal of the season, while Corley notched her third assist.
Melton saved seven shots in the loss as the Grizzlies outshot the Golden Tigers 20-8.
Brenau (6-7 overall, 2-3 SSAC) next travels to Pulaski, Tennessee for an SSAC matchup against #5 Martin Methodist College on Saturday at 6 pm eastern.
