Soccer Picked Sixth in Preseason Poll
In the 2015-16 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Brenau Golden Tigers received 40 total points and were chosen sixth out of nine teams, the conference announced Monday.
With the departure of 10 players from the 2014 squad, including All-Americans Tori Brown and Elizabeth Campbell and All-Conference performer Vanessa Alexander, the Golden Tigers look to 13 newcomers to retool their roster and take on the SSAC.
Defending SSAC champs, the University of Mobile (Ala.) received 6-of-9 first place votes and 75 total points as the favorites entering the 2015 season. SSAC runners-up William Carey (Miss.) College was picked second with 72 votes, including one first place vote, while Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College secured two first place votes and 69 total votes for third place.
Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (51 points), Bethel (Tenn.) (42 points), Brenau (Ga.) (40 points), Faulkner (Ala.) (28 points), Middle Georgia State (17 points) and Brewton-Parker (Ga.) (11 points) round out the nine-team preseason poll.
