Soccer Signs Bennett For 2015

Brenau soccer announces the signing of Taylor Bennett to the 2015-2016 team.

Bennett, the daughter of Todd and Kendy Bennett, is a decorated student-athlete who excels on and off the playing field.

During her junior season at Dawson County High School, playing for Coach Jed Lacy, Bennett notched 10 goals and 18 assists and was selected as a first-team all-region player and first-team all-area selection. A two-year team captain, Bennett was named Dawson County High School Offensive MVP and helped lead her team to a Sweet 16 appearance in the GHSA state tournament.

As a sophomore, Bennett was a second-team all-region and all-area player and was selected as Best Supporting Player for her high school squad. She is also is the Dawson County High School record holder for assists.

In addition to playing for her high school, Bennett also plays club soccer for Coach Phillip Broome and the UFA Elite.

Off the field, Bennett is an Honor Roll student who is a member of HOSA, a Peer Leader and volunteers with Operation Christmas Child and various activities through her church.

Bennett is a straight-A student who plans on majoring in Pre-Medicine at Brenau . Her intent is to obtain an advanced degree and become a Physician's Assistant.

"I am thrilled to have Taylor commit to our soccer program. She is an amazing student-athlete, a wonderful person and is a welcome addition to the Brenau community," said head coach Mike Lochstampfor. "She will likely play as an outside midfielder but has the capability of playing in a number of positions and being effective. I look forward to coaching someone of her caliber and am excited that she is the first of what will be a long list of talented student-athletes for our 2015 team!"

Bennett is the first signee of the off-season for the Golden Tigers, who return seven players to the 2015-2016 team.
