#16 Soccer Routs Brewton Parker 9-0
The #16 Brenau soccer team exploded for nine goals in a shutout of conference foe Brewton Parker (Ga.) College in Mt. Vernon, Ga. on Thursday.
The Golden Tigers scoring attack started almost immediately as Taylor Salmon scored 30 seconds into the match. The goals continued quickly as senior Jenny Knibbs knocked home her ninth goal of the season for a 2-0 lead.
Fellow senior Kayla Madsen joined the scoring when in the 10th minute the forward found the back of the net to make the score 3-0. In the 20th minute, a Knibbs pass found Mary Achebo for the fourth Golden Tiger goal, while five minutes later Achebo returned the favor assisting on Knibbs' second goal of the half. Knibbs then buried an Anna Garrett pass to earn her second hat trick in as many games to give Brenau a 6-0 first half lead.
After the half, Madsen scored her second goal of the afternoon off of an Elizabeth Campbell assist to increase the lead to 7-0. In the 71st minute, Natalia Ellis assisted Vanessa Alexander for the eighth goal of the match, and then Alexander assisted on Jasmina Smith's first career goal for the Golden Tigers' ninth goal of the match.
The rout was the fifth overall win and the first conference win of the season for the Golden Tigers who climbed three spots this week from #19 to #16 in the NAIA national poll.
Brenau continues their conference slate this Saturday on Homecoming Weekend as the Golden Tigers host SSAC newcomer Middle Georgia State College at 5 pm.
