Salmon Signs for Soccer
Taylor Salmon has signed to play soccer for the NAIA #23 ranked Golden Tigers soccer team this fall. Salmon, who hails from Bradenton, Florida spent last season as a member of the Valdosta State University's Blazer soccer team. Valdosta State competes as an NCAA DII institution.
Salmon becomes one of the first signees for the Tigers who return virtually their entire starting lineup from the 2012 squad which recorded the best season in the program's history. Brenau loses only one player to graduation- another Taylor- Bates, who spent the majority of her playing time in the central part of Brenau's defense. Salmon has the ability to play as a central player or on the left side. "Taylor will do a great job for us in whichever role. She works extremely hard, is capable of keeping the ball and has a great left foot. I'm excited to have another veteran player join our team," commented Coach Lochstampfor.
Salmon, who will pursue a major in Mass Communications, is thrilled about her move to Brenau. She commented, "I'm excited and intend for this team to go further than they did last season!" Brenau lost in the semi-finals of the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament to the eventual conference champs Lee University. Brenau finished the 2012 season with a 13-5-0 record.
