Martin Named SSAC Defensive Player of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Ga - The senior from Toccoa, Georgia, was the first Golden Tiger to receive honors from the Southern States Athletic Conference, during the 2011 fall season. Martin was named SSAC Defensive Player of the Week after 2 impressive conference wins, against Emmanuel College and William Carey University.

"Hanna was instrumental in both wins this last week", said Head Coach Mike Lochstampfor. "She was outstanding in the match vs. William Carey as she repeatedly won tackles and anchored our defense to preserve the shutout. Martin has been our most consistent ball winner all season."

In the final game of the regular season play, Hanna helped the Golden Tigers defeat the Emmanuel Lions, 5-2, with her persistent defense. After their victory, Brenau had little time to celebrate because they hosted the Crusaders in the quarterfinals, this past Saturday.

Brenau University shut out William Carey, 1-0, as Martin led the Golden Tigers' in a flawless defensive effort. Brenau's team is now preparing to travel to Gulfport, Mississippi, for the semifinals of the SSAC Women's Soccer Championships.

They will face off against No. 3 University of Mobile on Thursday, November 10th, at 6:30pm (est).
