Brenau Hosts William Carey in Quarterfinals of Championship
GAINESVILLE, Ga -The Golden Tigers (9-3) finished their regular season 3rd overall, in the Southern States Athletic Conference, behind nationally ranked No. 2 Lee University (12-0) and No. 3 University of Mobile (11-1).
Brenau University's soccer team will enter postseason play on Saturday, November 5th at 3pm. With an overall record of 9-5-3 (9-3 SSAC), the Golden Tigers have been paired against No. 6 William Carey University, who is currently 8-7-2 (6-4-2 SSAC). Earlier in the season, Brenau delivered a devastating defeat to William Carey, 2-1, who was ranked No. 21 in NAIA Division I at the time.
The quarterfinals will be held at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex, where the Crusaders and Golden Tigers will battle again for the chance to go to the semi-finals of the Championship in Gulfport, Mississippi (November 10-12).
The match up between Brenau and William Carey should be a good one as the Golden Tigers currently rank 4th in the conference in Saves per Game, with a total of 139. William Carey, ranks 5th in Goals Allowed per Game, 4th in Shots on Goal per Game, 3rd in Shots per Game, Assists per Game, and Goals per Game.
The Golden Tigers success has clearly been a team effort. They started the season off 0-3-2 and then defeated Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), where they gained the momentum that allowed Brenau to finish the regular season, 9-5-3.
Freshman forward, Jenny Knibbs (Doncaster, England), leads the Golden Tigers in a number of stats. In the first season of her collegiate career, she has recorded 12 goals (0.71 avg), 57 shots (3.35 avg), and 36 SOGs (2.12 avg). In addition, Knibbs ranks 8th in the SSAC for SOGs per game and 10th in Points per Game. Senior midfielder, Erin Brinks (Ontario, Canada), leads the team with 5 assists (0.29 avg), while rookie goalkeeper, Tori Brown (Windermere, FL) has collected 126 saves (7.88 avg).

The Golden Tigers have made several arrangements, to ensure that the fans will have an enjoyable experience. Jimmy John's, sponsor for the Golden Tiger of the Week, will be at the game passing out sandwiches and prizes. During half time, they will be holding a shoot out, and winners will be given a prize from their local store.
The stands will be filled with intensity. Drummers from North Hall High School will get the Golden Tigers pumped up and are sure to get the crowd hyped with their rhythm. All fans are asked to participate in all the events, which include the BLACK OUT game (wear all black, if possible). Students can rely on the shuttle bus for transportation to and from Allen Creek, if needed. The shuttle will begin its rounds at 2:30pm on Saturday, at Sorority Circle.
