Brenau Soccer Preps for Senior Day
GAINESVILLE, Ga - The Brenau University soccer team will be recognizing their seniors this Saturday, October 29th, at their match against conference opponent, Shorter University. This home game is sure to provide all sorts of entertainment. Not only will fans watch as they compete against their rival, Shorter, but they will also be able to partake in "Senior Day" and the soccer team's "Pink Game".
For the past month, the Golden Tigers soccer and volleyball team have joined efforts to raise money for breast cancer research. They have been proactive in various fundraising efforts such as: traditional bake sales (cookies, cupcakes, and sweet treats), selling t-shirts for the cause, along with holding a 50/50 raffle. On Saturday, the soccer team plans to raise further awareness for the cause by sporting pink "rally for the cure" shirts.
Midfielder Erin Brinks is from Ontario, Canada. She transferred to Brenau from Middle Georgia College,where she was a GJCAA All-Region player. She has been a tremendous asset to the team over the last 2 seasons, establishing herself as the team's most consistent flank player with her excellent crosses. Brinks has played in 31 games, recording 4 assists, 36 shots and 19 SOGs along the way. Erin's parents are Jennifer and Terry Brinks.

Laura Hirst, all the way from Huddersfield, England, plays as a midfielder for the Golden Tigers. As a four-year veteran to this program, she has really put her heart into this team. Hirst has competed in 31 games for Brenau, earning 2 assists, 6 shots, and 2 SOGs.

Laura's parents are Sarah and Paul Hirst.

Hanna Martin, a Georgia native from Toccoa, has been a consistent performer on the team with her aggressive style of play. Over the past 4 years, she has matured as a player and become recognized as an outstanding defender/midfielder and a tremendous ball winner. Martin has played in 59 matches over the course of her career recording 2 goals and 2 assists. She was named Golden Tiger of the Week-2011. Hanna's parents are Shereeta and Harlan Martin.
Head Coach Mike Lochstampfor commented, "This senior class represents a special group of young women who have made a significant impact- collectively and individually- on the soccer program during their tenure. They are all very talented, hard working, and competitive student-athletes that have demonstrated a firm commitment to the program. I appreciate all of their hard work, dedication, and their commitment to helping make the program a great representation of the athletic department and Brenau University."
