Jansen Signs to Play Soccer at Brenau
Jenna Jansen, an outstanding student-athlete from Madison County High School, has signed a letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Brenau University. Jansen has been an integral part of her high school team's success over the last few years and has garnered individual recognition in the process of contributing to that success. For her efforts, Jansen was twice named the team's Most Valuable Player - Offense during her freshman and sophomore years. Additionally, she was recognized by the Athens- Banner Herald for her stellar play last year for her high school team!
In addition to playing for her high school team, Jansen played with Coach Mike Morgan's College Experience club team under the Athens United Soccer Association. Coach Morgan had this to say about Jenna, "Jenna is an excellent attacker who reads the game well. She makes great runs behind the back four and gets into good scoring areas."
Jansen has had extensive involvement with many clubs and organizations that compliment her involvement with soccer. She is very gifted academically; a first-rate National Honor Society student with a GPA of 3.9 and a recipient of the Athletic Academic Award and the UGA Merit Award from her high school. Additionally, she is a member of BETA Club and Honor Roll. She has served as president of the Anchor Club, and been an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She plans to pursue a degree in biology with the goal of someday having a career in the medical field.
At Brenau, Jansen should have no problem getting acclimated to the rigors of college athletics. Head Coach, Mike Lochstampfor feels confident that Jansen will fit well with his team's philosophy,
"Jenna will add a great deal of much needed depth to our midfield. Her fitness and work rate will give us another player that can defend but will also be involved in the attack. I have been impressed with her positive attitude and play on every occasion I've seen her and her work ethic is tremendous. I look forward to having Jenna join our team this fall- she's a solid player and a tremendous person!" said Coach Lochstampfor.
