Brenau Soccer Signs All-Area Defender
March 3, 2011
Brenau University soccer program announces the signing of senior defender, Rachel Wright, to play for the Golden Tigers team beginning this fall. Wright, who currently anchors the defense for Chestatee High School's varsity program, also serves as one of the team's co-captains and has been instrumental in much of the success her team has enjoyed over the course of the last few seasons.
While at Chestatee, Wright has garnered some well-deserved recognition which will undoubtedly serve her well as she takes her game to the college level. In 2010, she was the recipient of her team's most valuable defender award. Her stellar play the previous year landed her on both The Times 2009 All-Area team and the Mountain Cup All-Tournament team. Additionally, for the last three years both Rachel and her teammates have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their academic achievements.
Wright will be the first Hall County resident to sign with the Golden Tigers soccer team this year. Head Coach, Mike Lochstampfor had this to say about his most recent addition to the team, "Rachel possesses all of the qualities we look for in our defenders- she has excellent speed and quickness, is disciplined about her training and has a great passion for the game. She will bring a great deal of added depth to our defense!"
Rachel will join the 2011 team this fall when training begins in August. She plans to pursue a degree in the university's physician assistant program.
