Lassiter Defender Signs with Brenau Soccer
Anna Garrett is the latest addition to the Brenau University soccer team for this fall. The Lassiter high school senior defender recently signed a scholarship agreement with Brenau and will join the team this fall when they begin training for the 2011 season.
Garrett chose Brenau University after being recruited by several other colleges and universities and will be a welcome addition to the program. Brenau University Head Soccer Coach, Mike Lochstampfor had this to say about Anna, "She has very good pace, is technically sound and will add a great deal to the competitiveness of our team. Anna has a great work ethic, is passionate about the game, and is another solid addition- I'm excited about her joining our program!"
Garrett comes to Brenau having played for the last ten years for the Cobb YMCA Strikers and Coach Phimar Patterson. She played several vital roles for the team; sometimes with more defensive responsibilities and at other times she was given more opportunities to get into the attack- her speed, and that of opponents, typically dictating where she would play each game. Her club team claimed the 2009 President's Cup tournament.
In addition to her passion for playing soccer, Anna is also very involved in many other pursuits. She currently serves as co-treasurer of the FBLA club at her high school. She volunteers each summer to work with special needs kids at a local camp and has been engaged on a regular basis with initiatives to help feed the homeless.
Academically, Garrett is a strong student and her interest might be to pursue a major in one of the health sciences. In addition to her soccer scholarship, Anna also was awarded an academic scholarship to help her pursue all of her goals when she steps on the Brenau campus this fall for her freshman year.
