Lesnick Outstanding in Loss to #3 Lee

Gainesville, Ga. - The Brenau soccer team played host to the NAIA #3 and defending National Champion Lee University Flames (11-2, 3-0) tonight in a SSAC matchup at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex and played an outstanding game before falling 3-0. Senior All Conference goalie Lisa Lesnick (Surfside Beach, NC) was rock solid and turned the visitors away time after time to give the Tigers a chance.

Lesnick had lots of support from her teammates, particularly defender Tori Futrell (Savannah) who thwarted a number of drives by Lee. Janay Hunt (Madison, Al) had the responsibility of marking one of the Flames' best offensive players and matched her stride for stride. Freshman Hannah Norwood (Lawrenceville) was also a big factor in the game.

Lee's Ashley Aragona scored the first of her two goals at 36:35 in the first half and that was the extent of scoring in that half. The score remained 1-0 until the 20 minute mark in the second half when Aragona found the back of the net for the second time. At the 16:38 mark Ode Fulutudilu scored the final goal.

"We did well containing their speed for the most part." said Coach Mike Lochstampfor. "I was very happy with the team effort in what is always a daunting task."

Brenau will travel to Columbia, SC on Tuesday for another SSAC match against Columbia College.
