Golf Takes Fifth Place at Scotch Invite
Laurinburg, North Carolina- The Brenau golf team improved twenty strokes on day two of competition to place fifth overall at the Scotch Invite, hosted at the Scotch Meadows Country Club this past Monday and Tuesday.
Sophomore Ylenia Bennasar, junior Haylee Rhodes and freshman Willow Hill gained a total of 31 strokes on the final day of competition to help the Golden Tigers jump from seventh to fifth place at the tournament.
Bennasar led the squad with an 89-78-167 (+25) to tie for 15th place, while freshman Kaylee Stickney fired a consistent 83-85-168 to place in a tie for 17th place, which marked her best finish as a Golden Tigers.
Fellow freshman Sasha Baker added a solid 88-89-177 (+35) to tie for 28th place, while junior Haylee Rhodes (+42) and Willow Hill (+50) placed T34th and 45th respectively.
As a team, the squad shot a team total of 696 to edge past both Methodist (NC) University and host St. Andrews University. SCAD-Atlanta won top team honors with a 623, while SCAD's Martha Sanchez and Methodist's Natalie Brosig split low medalist honors by shooting a 153.
Brenau will wrap up its fall slate at the AAC Fall Preview in Adairsville, Ga. on October 25 and 26th.
