Golf Places Sixth at Phoenix Invitational
In a highly competitive field, the Brenau golf team placed sixth at the Phoenix Invitational at Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, Tennessee on Tuesday.
Following a strong opening day score of 322, the squad struggled on the final day of competition, posting a score of 330 to finish sixth overall.
Individually, Niquole Mangal led Brenau with a two-day 76-80—156 to place in a tie for tenth. This was the third consecutive top-10 finish this spring for the Sugar Hill, Ga. sophomore who previously placed second at the Spring Break Invitational and sixth at the Golden Tigers home tournament in Gainesville.
Macie Hurst placed 17th overall with a score of 83-78—161, while Ashley Omidi shot 80-86—166 to place in a tie for 21st. Sara Jane Bowers (83-86—169/T27th) and Megan Reddick (87-87—174/T42nd) rounded out the scorers for the Golden Tigers.
Dalton State won the tournament with a team score of 621, while William Carey (628), Taylor University (643) and host Cumberlands University (645) round out the top five finishers.
Individually, William Carey University's Aleesha Smith was the low medalist with a score of 74-74—148.
Brenau next competes at the AAC Spring Tournament on April 9th and 10th in New Loudon, Tennessee.
