Golf Picked Eighth in SSAC Preseason Poll
The Brenau golf team was selected eighth in the 2015 SSAC Women's Golf Coaches' Preseason Poll released on Tuesday.
The second year program returns two golfers from the inaugural squad-Lauren Smith (SO/Gainesville, Ga.) and Morgan Wood (SO/Dahlonega, Ga.)- and adds four freshman to the team.
Sara Jane Bowers (FR/Statesboro, Ga.), LaKese Brown (FR/Albany, Ga.), Olivia Davis (FR/Flowery Branch, Ga.) and Brittan Slaton (FR/Cleveland, Ga.) are all expected to provide depth and talent to the emerging program.
SSAC newcomer Dalton State (Ga.) was selected unanimously as the preseason favorite, receiving all eight first place votes. The Roadrunners were also selected 10th in the NAIA preseason Top-25 national poll. Second and third place preseason teams, William Carey (Miss.) University and the University of Mobile (Ala.) were also chosen in the NAIA poll.
Defending conference champion Coastal Georgia was voted fourth in the early conference standings.
The Golden Tigers open their spring season in Brunswick, Georgia at the Coastal Georgia Tournament on February 16th.
