Cavaliers Defeat Golden Tigers 69-51 in AAC Competition
Montreat, North Carolina- The Brenau basketball again struggled offensively in a 69-51 loss to Montreat College in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition on Saturday..
In the first half, the Golden Tigers held pace as freshman Jill Pittman scored eight first half points. The Crossnore, North Carolina guard buried two early three pointers and scored on a driving layup to keep the Golden Tigers within five points of the Cavaliers at the break.
The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game as Montreat shot 48% in the period to Brenau's 36% to take a 59-36 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Brenau kept it close, as the team shot 60% from the floor, but was unable to get defensive stops and cut into the deficit.
Sophomore Nyla Moore led Brenau with 11 points, while Pittman added eight points. Freshman Taylor Williams also chipped in seven points.
Montreat's Caleigh Raby led all scorers with 20 points.
Brenau (4-9 overall, 3-8 AAC) next travels to Columbia International (SC) University (7-10 overall, 5-7 AAC) in an AAC matchup on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
