Basketball Cruises By Allen 76-58
The Brenau basketball team used another solid defensive effort to run past Allen (SC) University 76-58 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Monday in Gainesville.
After a hotly contested 19-16 quarter, the Golden Tigers held the visiting Yellow Jackets (8-5 overall, 5-4 AAC) to only 11 points in both the second and third quarter. The defense propelled the offense to their largest lead-23 points- in the fourth quarter as Brenau cruised to an 18 point win.
"This was a complete effort against a talented Allen College team," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We had another good defensive outing, but this was also a strong offensive effort. We found open players and took great shots. We also had 19 offensive rebounds, which helped our offense as well."
Autumn Dodson led all scorers with 22 points on 8-12 shooting, including 6-9 from three-point range. Jasmine Knight added a career-high 17 rebounds and seven assists, while Kaylyn Brooks added a career-high 15 points. Cameron Mims also chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.
Kadejuha Kennedy led the Yellow Jackets with nine points.
Brenau (6-3 overall, 4-3 AAC) travels to Montreat (NC) College (3-7 overall, 2-5 AAC) on Saturday for a 4 pm eastern conference matchup.
