Offensive Woes Doom Golden Tigers Against Bluefield
The Brenau basketball team struggled with cold shooting to fall to Bluefield (Va.) College 59-46 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday in Bluefield.
After a competitive 17-14 first quarter, the Golden Tigers offense sputtered in the second period as the squad could only muster seven points to fall behind 29-21 at the half.
In the third period, the Brenau defense held the Rams to only nine points, but the offense was unable to keep stride as the Golden Tigers faded late to take the loss.
"Our defense and effort were there, but we just couldn't find our shot tonight," said head coach Kris Stewart. "Bluefield is a very well-coached team and we did a good job holding them to only 59 points. However, we need to find consistency on offense to match our defensive effort."
Kaylyn Brooks matched her career-high with 11 points and Jasmine Knight added eight points and 10 rebounds.
Hannah Preservati led the Rams with 17 points.
Brenau (5-3 overall, 3-3 AAC) takes a break for final exams and then returns to the hardwood to host Allen (SC) University on Monday December 11th at 6:00 pm in Gainesville.
