Basketball Players Receive SSAC Postseason Honors
The Southern States Athletic Conference announced postseason basketball awards as members of the Brenau basketball team were selected for athletic and academic honors.
Kalin Williams, a junior from Palmetto, Georgia, finished as an SSAC Second Team All-Conference selection for her performance this season. Williams averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 2104-15. She finished 7th in the SSAC in scoring, 10th in free throw percentage, 11th in steals, 16th in rebounds and 7th in assists. Williams scored double figures in 20 of 27 games with a season high of 24 against Morris (S.C.) College.
Autumn Dodson was selected as member of the SSAC All-Freshman team in her inaugural season. The Jefferson City, Tennessee native finished second in scoring for the Golden Tigers at 9.9 points per game and added averages of 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals. Dodson was also nationally ranked in free-throw percentage (84%). The freshman scored in double figures in 13 of 27 games and scored a career and season high of 20 points twice against Allen (S.C.) University and Blue Mountain (Miss.) College.
Sophomore Maegan Kenimer was chosen as the team's Champions of Character award winner. The post player was honored for best representing the NAIA Five Core Values-Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
The Golden Tigers also tied with Blue Mountain (Miss.) College for the most SSAC All-Academic team members. Kenimer and Williams joined Jasmine Davis, Dominique Patrick and Claire Zimmerman as honorees.
All-Academic team members must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have been enrolled in at least four semesters in college.
"I am proud of all of our honorees," said head coach Kris Stewart. "Kalin Williams was an outstanding player all season and Autumn Dodson really performed well in her first year. Maegan Kenimer is such a hard worker and the consummate team player. All of our academic nominees are outstanding students and I am really excited that we were tied for the most academic awards in the SSAC. That is testament to the kind of student-athletes we have on our team."
