Basketball Wins Two Over the Weekend
GAINESVILLE, Ga.-The Brenau basketball team collected two non-conference home wins as the Golden Tigers defeated Montreat (N.C.) College 78-48 and Reinhardt (Ga.) University 75-58 on Friday and Saturday.
Against Montreat, Brenau raced out to an 11-0 early lead with early baskets from Dominique Patrick and Claire Zimmerman, but the Cavaliers narrowed the gap to 46-35 at the half.
In the second half, the Golden Tigers found their stride behind ten second half points from Maegan Kenimer. Brenau outscored Montreat 32-13 in the second half to secure their first win of the season.
Kenimer's ten points was a career high for the sophomore post, who also added six rebounds. Kalin Williams led all scorers with 13 points, while Patrick added 11 points. Zimmerman chipped in 11 points, while freshman Autumn Dodson added 12.
Against Reinhardt, the Golden Tigers started off fast and never trailed as five players reached double figures in the victory.
Sophomore Briah Woods led all scorers with 17 points, while Williams added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists. Patrick continued the balanced attack with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Carly Kluttz scored a career-high 10 points.
Brenau (2-1) next travels to Sumter, S.C. on Tuesday to take on Morris College for a non-conference matchup.
