Basketball Signs Three Transfers
Brenau basketball announces the signing of transfers Alyssa Nichelson, Dominique Patrick and Briah Woods to the 2014-2015 team.
Nichelson, a transfer from Georgia Northwest Tech, averaged 10.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds. During the second half of her sophomore season, the 5'8 wing averaged 18.2 points per game and was named a Region XVII First Team All-Region performer. Nichelson plans on majoring in Nursing.
"Nichelson is a very aggressive player who can score," said head coach Kris Stewart. "She is a solid rebounder and excellent foul shooter who will help our wing play".
Patrick, a transfer from NCAA Division I Grambling State (La.) University, averaged 19.6 minutes per game as a freshman point guard in 2013-2014. The former ESPN Three-Star athlete and graduate of Center Point (Ala.) High School scored a season-high 16 points versus Texas Tech University during her freshman campaign. Patrick plans on majoring in Communication Arts.
"Patrick has an outstanding pedigree and experience at the highest level ," said Stewart. "She is an strong playmaker and shooter".
Woods, a transfer from NCAA Division II Clayton State (Ga.) University, appeared in 24 contests during her freshman season. A graduate of North Cobb High School, the forward was a Georgia High School 6A All-State honoree during her senior year.
"Woods is an excellent shooting forward who is also a solid defender," said Stewart. "Her shooting ability will be an excellent fit for our offense".
The Golden Tigers return 12 players from the 2013-2014 season.
