Basketball Ends 2012 With Four in a Row
WALESKA, Ga. –
The Brenau basketball team picked up their fourth win in a row and closed out the first half of their season with a 64-52 defeat over host Reinhardt University last Saturday. Brittney Wiley's (Royston, GA) 16 points paced Brenau, with 14 coming in the opening half. Gabby Harvey (Lilburn, GA) picked up 14 points and added 13 rebounds in the win. And, Sarah Ward (Elberton, GA) had 10 second-half points, with nine coming via the 3-pointer. She was equaled by teammate Raven Crawford (Toccoa, GA) who chipped in 10 points on the night.
Reinhardt (6-7) tied the game early at 5-all, but Brenau led for nearly the entire contest. The Tigers led by as many as 12 in the first half. In the second half, Brenau scored on the opening possession, but Reinhardt connected on two 3-pointers to pull within three, 33-30. Two Brenau 3-pointers propelled the Tigers as they went on a 10-0 run to stretch the lead all the way to a game-high 16.
The teams swapped points back-and-forth for the remainder of the second half. Brenau scored the final six points of the game from the charity stripe and the host team was unable to keep pace on the other end, falling at the final buzzer by 12.
On the season, Brenau is 2-0 against Reinhardt following an earlier defeat back on November 20th by the score of 74-65. The Golden Tigers run their record to 9-5 and will return to action on January 5th when they travel to SSAC foe Auburn University- Montgomery for a 6pm tip-off.
