North Georgia Tames the Golden Tigers
DAHLONEGA, Ga - The Lady Saints hosted the Golden Tigers in the North Georgia Thanksgiving Classic, on Friday evening. Brenau battled against the home team, as three Golden Tigers scored in the double digits.
North Georgia defeated Brenau 86-67, improving the Lady Saints' overall record to 2-1. Currently, the Golden Tigers hold a 4-4 overall record (0-2 SSAC), sporting a .500 winning percentage for the season.
The Lady Saints took the lead early in the first half, when Jaymee Carnes made a jump shot and ran with the momentum. The Golden Tigers ended the half trailing behind, 46-34.
Brenau attempted to shut down North Georgia's offense, which primarily included their sophomore forward, Jaymee Carnes, who scored 40 points for the night.
Sophomore guard Brittany Wiley (Royston, GA) proved to be an offensive threat for the Golden Tigers once again. She scored 16 points and collected 2 rebounds and an assist. Nikki Reed (Atlanta, GA) lit up the scoreboard with 13 points, while also recording 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
Gabby Harvey (Lilburn, GA) finished the evening with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. Both Tala Black (Marietta, GA) and Raven Crawford (Toccoa, GA) scored 8 points each; Crawford went on to earn 6 rebounds, while Black contributed with 2 steals and an assist.
The Golden Tigers will jump back into action tomorrow, at 2pm. They will play their final game of the North Georgia Thanksgiving Classic against the NCAA Division II National Champions, Clayton State University.
