The Golden Tigers Pounce on the Eagles, 61-49
WALESKA, Ga - The Brenau University basketball team traveled to Reinhardt University this evening, and defeated the Eagles 61-49. The Golden Tigers improved their overall record to 4-3 (0-2 SSAC), while Reinhardt fell to a 2-4 overall record.
The Golden Tigers led the Eagles for the entire first half. Even with the home court advantage, Reinhardt ended the half trailing Brenau, 34-22.
The Eagles returned to the court with intensity, placing pressure on Brenau's offense for the remainder of the game. The Golden Tigers were thankful for the lead they created in the first half, seeing that both teams managed to put up 27 points in the final half of the game.
Tala Black (Marietta, GA) and Nikki Reed (Atlanta, GA) were both responsible for igniting the Golden Tigers' offense, scoring 12 points each. Junior Gabby Harvey (Lilburn, GA) produced a double double against the Eagles, scoring 10 points and making 11 rebounds, while Brittany Wiley (Royston, GA) came in strong with 11 points, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds.
Brenau dominated Reinhard from the both the free throw and 3-point line. The Golden Tigers went 17 for 29 at the free throw line, while also draining 6 3-pointers against the host team.
The Golden Tigers will compete in the North Georgia Thanksgiving Classic this weekend. Brenau is scheduled to play North Georgia College and State at 6pm, on Friday, November 25th, and Clayton State University at 2pm, on Saturday, November 26th.
