Gainesville, GA- Athletic Director Mike Lochstampfor announced the addition of Beth Henson to the basketball coaching staff at Brenau today. Beth will pursue a graduate program of Masters of Arts in Teaching and hopes to teach and coach in the Hall County area upon completion. Henson played at Gainesville High School from 1996-2000 for Coach Manson Hill and her teams qualified for the Elite Eight in both her Sophomore and Junior seasons. She was a recruited walk-on at Georgia where her team won the SEC Championship her Freshman year. Henson transferred to Savannah College of Art and Design where she played from 2003-2006 and was named to the Florida Sun All Conference Team. Beth has volunteered on the Golden Tigers coaching staff for the past two seasons and has been very instrumental in the development of the Tigers post players. "I have really enjoyed working with the team for the past two years and I love these players. I am looking forward to my new position and becoming a part of the Brenau family," said Henson. Coach Gary Bays had this to say about the addition of Henson to the staff. "I actually got to know Beth when she played at SCAD against my teams at Warner, FL and she was always a tough competitor. I immediately pursued her to help us build the program at Brenau and I really appreciate her efforts as a volunteer for the past two years. Because of her reputation and familiarity with Northeast Georgia girls basketball, we hope to make big inroads in recruiting this area." Henson is an accomplished artist and maintains her own art studio where she gives lessons and paints professionally. She is the daughter of Dr. Taylor and Margaret Henson and the sister of Tigers Senior guard Meg Henson.
