Brenau Races Past Tennessee Wesleyan

Gainesville, GA- Seniors Ashley Hagans and Vicky Wilson led the way tonight as the Golden Tigers ran their season record to 8-4 with a 71-51 win over Tennessee Wesleyan at the Brenau gym. Hagans finished with 22 points on 5-10 shooting from the three point line and added six rebounds. Wilson broke the single game record for assists with 10 and tossed in 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. Meg Henson and Tasha Anderson had held the old record with eight apiece. Freshman Nikki Reed had eight points and eight rebounds in another solid performance.The Tigers never trailed in the game, opening up a 33-26 halftime advantage, but they couldn't shake the visiting Bulldogs who stayed close until Hagans and Wilson hit some timely threes to pull away with about eight minutes left. Brenau shot .410 from the field and held TWC to .347, while forcing 28 turnovers with their pressure defense. Freshman Olivia Williams had her best performance of the season with five points and four rebounds as BU came up with 14 offensive rebounds while limiting the visitors to only six. The Tigers will return to the conference play on Thursday when they host Southern Wesleyan with a 6 pm tipoff.
