December 17, 2009
Gainesville, GA- Senior Guard Vicky Wilson not only led the Tigers in scoring Tuesday in their win over Georgia Southwestern with 19 points, but she also scored her 1,000th career point in the game. Wilson, who played her high school basketball at Buford, now has 1,006 points for her career and is the leading scorer in Brenau basketball history with a 10.1 per game average. She has been a four-year starter for the Tigers and was one of the first recruits for Coach Gary Bays, who launched the program in the fall of 2006.Wilson joins teammates Sarah Ledford and Paige Cooper in reaching the 1,000 point milestone in the same game, which is undoubtedly a rare occurence in college basketball. "Vicky never takes a day or even a play off in practice or in games. She was a hard worker when she came in as a Freshman and nothing has changed. Her strong will sets a great example for her teammates and she has made herself into an outstanding college player," said Bays. Wilson, who will graduate in May with a degree in Elementary Education, was named to the SSAC All Academic Team last spring.
