Tigers Cruise Past NCAA II Georgia Southwestern

Gainesville, GA- The Brenau Golden Tigers raced out to a 56-35 halftime lead and were never threatened on their way to a surprisingly easy 92-73 win over NCAA II Georgia Southwestern tonight in the Brenau gym. The Tigers run their early season mark to 4-1 while GSW drops to 3-3. Senior Ashley Hagans led the way with 18 points including 4-7 from the 3 point line, seven rebounds and six assists and got plenty of help from Vicky Wilson and Tori Collins with 15 each and Paige Cooper with 12. Meg Henson and Freshman phenom Nikki Reed each pitched in with nine points.Brenau took control of the game early and shot a blistering .625 from the field in the first half, while holding GSW to .351 from the field. Henson led the rebounding effort with eight, followed by Hagans and Cooper picked up six caroms. All 14 players on the roster got into the game and Freshmen Sarah Ward and Jasmyn Farmer scored their first college points. "I expected a much tougher game since these guys beat Valdosta State on Sunday and play at a level higher than us, but our players really came out and took it to them." said Coach Gary Bays after the win. Next up is an important SSAC matchup at Southern Poly on Thursday night, who is currently undefeated and leading the conference.
