Softball Sweeps Point in AAC Doubleheader

Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team swept conference foe Point (Ga.) University 3-1 and 9-5 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

In game one, Brenau starter Alyssa Bedenbaugh held the visitors to seven hits and allowed no earned runs to earn her third win of the season.

Junior Hannah Patridge drove in two runs, while freshman Whitney Hulsey added an RBI in the win.

In the second game, the Brenau offense pounded out 12 hits and seven Golden Tigers posted RBIs in a 9-5 victory.

Brenau used a seven-run fifth inning to hold off the Skyhawks, who rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh, but were unable to complete a comeback.

Patridge continued her strong offensive day with two more RBIs, while junior Abigail Brown added two RBIs. Senior Morgan Tyler also added two steals to up her season total to team-best 12 stolen bases.

Starter Sarah Shaw scattered ten hits over seven innings and allowed only two earned runs in the win.

Brenau (9-3 overall, 5-1 AAC) plays on the road on Friday against Columbia International (SC)  (9-13 overall, 4-6 AAC) in an AAC doubleheader starting at 2 pm.
