Softball Stumbles Against Tennessee Wesleyan in AAC Play
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team kept both games close, but ultimately fell to Tennessee Wesleyan University 3-1 and 7-5 in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition on Saturday.
In the opening game, Brenau opened an early 1-0 lead as sophomore Hannah Patridge doubled home senior Kasey Blair to open the scoring, while the home team added to the scoring as sophomore Abigail Brown launched her second home run of the year for a 3-0 lead.
After Tennessee Wesleyan scored in the top of the second to make the score 3-1, the Golden Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the third to increase the lead to 5-1. However, the visiting Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the fifth and added two more in the top of the seventh to escape with the 7-5 win.
In game two, Tennessee Wesleyan started the scoring early with two runs in the fourth and added another run in the fifth to earn a 3-1 victory.
Brenau had opportunities as the Golden Tigers posted ten hits, including a solo home run by Patridge, but were unable to capitalize in the loss.
Brenau (15-8 overall, 8-4 AAC) makes a quick turnaround with an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader against St. Andrews University (5-19 overall, 1-13 AAC) on Sunday at 12 pm eastern in Gainesville.
