Grooms, Dillard Sweep AAC Weekly Honors
Asheville, North Carolina- Senior softball players Faith Grooms and Cameron Dillard received Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) weekly honors for their performances this past week, the conference announced on Monday.
Grooms was named as the 2021 AAC Softball Championships Most Outstanding Player for her play during the conference tournament. The Commerce, Ga. outfielder slugged her way to a .391 batting average, including two home runs, eight RBIs and two stolen bases during the six game tournament.
For the season, Grooms hit .432 with five homers and a team-best 41 RBIs. She also led the squad with 27 stolen bases and a .743 slugging percentage.
Dillard earned five wins and posted a sterling 2.24 ERA on the mound during the tournament. The senior pitched 36.2 of a possible 39 innings for the Golden Tigers on the week,capping off the run with a five-inning, four-hit shutout of Reinhardt (Ga.) University in the title game.
The Lawrenceville, Ga. native won 17 games during the regular season with a 2.32 ERA to lead the Golden Tigers staff.
