Cole Commits to Softball for 2020-21
The Brenau softball team and head coach Devon Thomas announce the signing of Turner Cole to the 2020-21 team.
Cole, the daughter of Pratt Austin-Trucks and Christopher Cole, is a graduate of Evangel Christian School and a native of Mountain Brook, Ala.
While at Evangel Christian, the catcher/outfielder was a five-year letter winner in softball and played on the Lightning basketball team. During her senior season, Cole led her squad in hits, home runs and RBIs and was named as an All-County catcher for small schools (AISA/ACSC).
Cole also played for the both the Birmingham Vipers 01 travel softball team that qualified for 2019 USA Elite Select Nationals and with the Sparks Elite 18U team that won the national championship at 2019 USA Softball Nationals in Montgomery.
The standout was also an honors student with a litany of honors and academic activities. Cole was an AP scholar, who was a member of Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, Spanish Club, Health and Wellness Club, Raise MB, Youth in Government Club, Junior Beta Club, Junior Civitan Club, National Honor Society, and Eta Sigma Alpha Homeschool Honor Society.
When asked about her commitment to Brenau, Cole said, "I am excited to be furthering my academic and athletic career at Brenau University. The softball program has had a great deal of success over the years, and I am glad to be joining the team. I want to thank Coach Thomas for this opportunity. Go Golden Tigers!"
According to head coach Devon Thomas, "Turner is a very solid defensive catcher which will help with our depth behind the plate next year. At the plate, she also has run producing ability in the middle of the lineup."
Cole plans on majoring in biology and is the fifth signee for the 2020-21 team.
