Blackmon Signs with Golden Tigers Softball

The Brenau softball team and head coach Devon Thomas announce the signing of Maggie Blackmon to the 2020-21 team.

Blackmon, the daughter of Jerry Blackmon, is a student at Commerce High School in Commerce, Ga.

During her career at Commerce, the third baseman was voted "Most Athletic" by her class and was also members of FFA, HOSA and served as Key Club vice-president.

When asked about her commitment to Brenau, Blackmon said, "Brenau has a very good nursing program and I could not turn down the opportunity to play for a nationally recognized softball program. Coach Thomas and Coach Mike (Ledford) made me feel very at home and I could not be more excited!"

According to head coach Devon Thomas, "Maggie brings more offense to the program. She is a powerful hitter that can drive the ball consistently. She is also solid at third base and behind the plate as a catcher. I look forward to having her power in our lineup."

Blackmon plans on majoring in nursing and is the third signee for the 2020-21 team. She joins fellow high school Haley Horne as future Golden Tigers.
