Softball Splits with Columbia International in AAC Play
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team split a double header with Columbia International (S.C) University in Appalachian Athletic Conference competition on Tuesday.
In game one, the Golden Tigers pounded out 14 hits, but came up one run short in a 9-6 loss to the visiting Rams.
Autumn Conaway had a solid 3-4 day with an RBI, while Brooke Wakenigg, Kasey Blair, Karly Smith each added two hits apiece.
The Golden Tigers had a tough day on the mound as starter Cameron Dillard pitched 2 2/3 innings while allowing six earned runs to take the loss. Relief pitcher Caroline Mitchell threw 4 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs.
In the second game, starter Chloe Fambrough threw a complete game to help Brenau breeze to an 8-3 win. The sophomore held the Rams offense to only two runs on five hits to capture her second win of the season.
Karly Smith hit her second home run of the season, while Morgan Tyler added three hits and a stolen base. Wakenigg continued her solid day by driving in four RBIs and Kasey Blair also added an RBI in the win.
Brenau (6-8 overall, 1-1 AAC) next hosts Milligan (Tenn.) College (5-3 overall, 4-3 AAC) in a conference doubleheader beginning at 2 pm in Gainesville.
